welcome
The Avon Occupational Safety & Health Group (AOSH) is an association that exists to promote, assist and maintain health, safety, welfare and environment knowledge, understanding and best practice within the community in the Bristol area. Every type/size of company and organisation and individuals from every industry sector are welcome to become members of AOSH and this membership then extends to every member of their staff.
The Officers and Committee members are all volunteers and comprise of professional safety advisors, managers and consultants. They work hard to draw up a varied annual Programme featuring a mixture of presentations by experienced and knowledgeable speakers on traditional but topical issues and, increasingly, facilitated interactive sessions to explore behavioural Health & Safety. There is also an annual site visit to see ‘behind the scenes’ and learn how others are working to keep both their staff and the public safe. AOSH receives annual sponsorship from Associated Asphalt for the drawing up and printing of the Programme which is available as a hard copy and also electronically. Belonging to Safety Groups UK, which is affiliated to RoSPA, AOSH has been presented with a number of Awards for Best Programme at the House of Lords. There is also a social media presence via LinkedIn. Attendance at meetings is free of charge to all staff from member companies and organisations with guests and visitors always welcome. Those considering membership are welcome to come to a couple meetings before being expected to become a member and do not need to be Safety Professionals as just an 'interest' in Health & Safety at work is enough. CPD points for a number of Institutions may be gained for attendance at any meeting. Any enquiries about AOSH should, in the first instance, be via the email on our CONTACT PAGE. Any queries will then be redirected to the appropriate Officer or Committee member. |
